Being Human

·

We are born an animal.
In our actions and interactions, we become human everyday.

Our daily deeds, our give-and-take from the society.
With the ones who cared, and the ones we care for.
And the ones who robbed us of our sensibilities and dignity.

Moments when we decide not to engage, not to shout, not to be an animal, makes us a bit more human.
Moments when we decide not to hate – reasons ample, makes us a bit more human.
Moments when we decide to value others needs at par with ours, makes us a bit more human.
Moments when we can muster the courage to forget and forgive, makes us more human.

And still there will be many who may not become the human we aspire this (ours) society to have.
Do we embrace them, ignore them or tell them to straighten up.
Do we lose our Humanity because some don’t agree with taming of our animal spirit.

This choice is still ours, and that makes us a bit more human.
